Yes, as long as the tablet or iPad has Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) capabilities it will be able to connect to the MonBaby button. Android devices will need to be running an operating system of 4.3 or higher in order to use the app. Is it compatible with iPhone 5 and higher, and iPad 2 and higher.

The MonBaby is recommended for use in the same room use and co-sleeping. Each household is different with varied construction materials, varied electrical interference and differing obstacles in the path between the MonBaby device and the connecting mobile phone. We have run extensive research and testing, including a brand new design, and have come to the conclusion that MonBaby is optimized for maximum BLE range.

For those customers looking to extend the range of your MonBaby we have come up with a solution that requires a spare Android device. MonBridge is a free app available on the Google Play store that you download onto the Android device and then place within 5-7 feet of the MonBaby button. The Android device will then send the data signal through your home wifi router, and can be picked up by your smartphone. The other advantage of using MonBridge is that you can connect several smartphones to the same button at once. Please see our separate section about MonBridge here.

Unfortunately since the MonBaby relies on a precise movement sensor to gather data it will not work properly while your baby is in a car, plane, or rocker. This constant movement will throw off the accelerometer.

MonBaby contains a single, high-precision MEMS accelerometer that monitors the baby’s movements  and determines roll overs through the sensor’s orientation.  Overall activity levels of your baby are monitored the same way, through your baby’s overall movement. If you would like to try this out for free using your smartphone, you can download the MonBaby app on the iOS App Store, or the Google Play store and select “Demo Mode.”  You can then move your phone around to simulate how the button works and interacts with the application.

MonBaby consists of two parts, a button and a shell. The shell goes underneath the clothing and the button on top. The button fits into the snap piece, and as the two parts are snapped together the clothing is trapped in between.

MonBaby has a unique patented form factor design that allows it to be attached to any typical article of baby clothing. Unlike sensors that are built into a sock or a full outfit, your baby will never outgrow the MonBaby. You can snap it off the baby’s dirty clothing and then attach it to a fresh one easily. MonBaby was also designed so that it is less intrusive and interesting to a baby, so there is less chance they will play or attempt to remove it.

Yes, our app is available as a free download for both Android and iOs, but please keep in mind that you can only connect one device per button at a time when you are connected to the MonBaby button using bluetooth. The MonBaby button is not waterproof, though it is splash resistant. If baby throws up or makes a mess on the button, it can be washed with the battery cover tightly closed with either a damp cloth or hypoallergenic baby wipe. We do not recommend dropping it in a sink or placing it in a washing machine.

MonBaby is a baby wearable designed to keep track of a newborn’s position and activity level. When it is attached to your baby’s clothing (ideally placed between the baby’s chest and lower belly) it will send activity data to your smartphone via the MonBaby App. The app will show you the overall movement and activity level of your baby while they sleep.  It will also send an alert if your baby rolls over onto their stomach before they are prepared to do so. Most pediatricians highly recommend that your baby sleep on their back for the first few months until they naturally are able to turn over and sleep on their stomach. The MonBaby app is customizable so you can turn on and off certain alerts to suit the specific needs of your baby. It also can detect high activity levels (in case your baby is crying or fussy) falls, or if your baby is sleeping on its side.
