How Probiotics Can Prevent Deadly Infections In Babies
You might have seen heartbreaking stories of parents talking about their babies who have died of sepsis. It’s a complication that occurs when your body tries to fight infection, which can lead to organ failure and death. Worldwide, one million early-infancy babies die because of sepsis, and there’s no proven way to prevent it.
Now, though, researchers in the US and India think they’ve found an effective way to avert these tragic deaths. Feeding babies probiotics dramatically reduces babies’ risk of death and sepsis, according to a report published Wednesday in the journal Nature.
